Recently, I have been praying through Proverbs 19:13b-14. It says, “…a wife’s quarreling is a continual dripping of rain. House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.” In Part 1, I wrote about the quarrelsome and critical spirit of a woman. It is annoying to her husband and over time it will rot their marriage. The next verse talks about what God can do!
In this culture, a man would work all the days of his life to provide a good inheritance for his family. He would work hard to keep his fields ready in and out of season. He would teach his children how to manage his household, preparing them to receive their inheritance when he died. This inheritance would be a ‘love’ gift from their father.
“But”, the proverb goes on to say, “a prudent wife is from the Lord.” No matter how much a father loves his son, there is a limit for what they can do for them. This specific gift, a prudent wife, is from the Lord. Our heavenly father wants to do more for his sons! He wants to give his sons a wife who is prudent.
Next we will dive into what it means to be PRUDENT. You don’t want to miss this.
